Antonio Silva Obituary

Antonio Furtado Silva, age 100, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024, at the Evergreen Nursing Home in East Providence, Rhode Island. Antonio, a cherished patriarch, was born on March 23, 1924, in Pico, Azores, to his late parents Eduardo and Maria Aurora (Lopes) da Silva. He was the loving husband of the late Helena (Costa) Silva, and together they shared a life full of joy and devotion.

Antonio, affectionately known as a man of faith and family, is survived by his children: Eduardo Silva and his wife Rita of Pawtucket, Maria Rodrigues and her husband Fernando "Fred" of Rehoboth, MA, and Antonio Silva and his wife Cristina of Pawtucket. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren Tanya Antunes and her husband Pedro, Jessica Silva, Fernando Rodrigues, Jr. and his wife Colie, Eric Rodrigues, Brian Silva, and Jonathan Silva.

He was the beloved great grandfather Jordan Antunes, Brewster Rodrigues and Raeya Rodrigues.  Antonio's memory will also be cherished by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Luisa da Silva Costa, Eduardo Silva, Jose Silva, Tomas Silva, and Maria Monteiro, whose memories he held close to his heart.

For over 16 fruitful years, Antonio dedicated his skills to the Darling Jewelry Company as a polisher, where his meticulous work was greatly valued. His commitment to his craft was paralleled only by his commitment to his community. A devout parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church, Antonio's faith was a cornerstone of his existence. He was also an active member of the Amigos da Terceira, where he engaged with fellow community members in celebrating their shared heritage and culture.

Antonio's interests were a reflection of his love for the simple pleasures in life. He found solace in the tranquility of gardening, creating a space of beauty and peace around his home. Camping trips were a source of great happiness, bringing him closer to nature and providing cherished memories with his family. Music was a constant companion for Antonio, whether he was listening to traditional tunes or humming along to the melodies that reminded him of his Azorean roots.

Above all, Antonio was a man characterized by his loving and generous spirit. He was a beacon of faith, whose unwavering belief provided strength and guidance to all who knew him. His presence was a source of comfort, and his ability to listen and offer words of wisdom was a gift to his family and friends.

Antonio's life was a testament to the values he held dear—love, generosity, and faith. These principles were woven into the fabric of his daily life and are the legacy he leaves behind. His warm smile, kind heart, and the lessons he imparted will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know him.

As the sun sets on a life well-lived, we bid farewell to Antonio Furtado Silva, knowing that his journey was one of purpose and love. His story does not end here, for it continues in the lives of those he touched, the family he adored, and the community he served. Antonio's memory will be held in reverence, and his spirit will continue to inspire.

Antonio's life will be celebrated in a service that honors his enduring faith and the profound impact he had on those around him. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the support and kindness shown during this time of remembrance.
