Barbara Barboza Obituary

Barbara J. (Sears) Barboza, 86, known affectionately as Barbara to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the St. Antoine Residence in North Smithfield, RI. Born on February 4, 1938, in Providence, RI, Barbara's life was marked by her loving nature, kind spirit, and adventurous soul.

Barbara's journey began as a bright light in Providence, where she grew up surrounded by her caring family. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest J. Barboza, with whom she shared a life full of love and cherished memories. As a devoted mother, she raised her children with unconditional love and support. She is survived by her children, Joan Robinson of Seekonk, MA, Ernest M. Barboza of Providence, Eileen M. Andrade of Douglas, MA, and she was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara Elizabeth Barboza. Barbara's warmth extended to her siblings, John Sears of California, Joseph Sears of Riverside, Louis Sears of Seekonk, and she was predeceased by her brother, Michael Sears.

Barbara's legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren Tomas Robinson and Michael Barboza, and her great-grandchildren Lucia Robinson, Julianna Barboza, Jayce Barboza, and Jackson Barboza. She was a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

With a passion for helping others, Barbara dedicated two years to nursing school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her commitment to care was evident during her tenure of over ten years at Miriam Hospital, where she provided comfort and compassion to countless patients.

Beyond her professional achievements, Barbara's interests painted the picture of a woman who embraced life's pleasures with enthusiasm. She was an avid traveler, always eager to explore new places and experience different cultures. Her love for playing bingo was matched by her joy in solving word games, activities that kept her mind sharp and her spirit playful. Above all, Barbara's happiest moments were those spent in the company of her family and friends, where her loving and kind presence was a source of joy and comfort.

Barbara's adventurous spirit was not confined to her hobbies; it was a quality that she brought to every aspect of her life. She faced each day with a sense of curiosity and excitement, inspiring those around her to do the same.

As we bid farewell to Barbara, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, marked by the love she gave and the love she received. Her memory will forever be a beacon of kindness, love, and adventure for all who were fortunate enough to know her. Barbara's impact on this world was significant, and her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all the lives she touched.

Barbara J. (Sears) Barboza's life was a testament to the beauty of caring for others, the joy of exploration, and the importance of family. Her passing leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and guide us. We take comfort in knowing that her kind and adventurous spirit will remain with us always.
