Patricia (Vaillancourt) Braddock

Patricia Braddock, 78

Patricia “Pat” Braddock (Vaillancourt), a long-time resident of Rehoboth, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2024.

Pat was born on the Canadian border in Frenchville, ME, the youngest of five siblings and the daughter of the late Patrick and Winifred (Roy) Vaillancourt. Her family relocated to East Providence, RI when she was a young child and she attended East Providence High School and Rhode Island College. She and her siblings (Gladys, Theresa, Reno, and Roger) were very close, all settling in the Providence area and gathering frequently with their families. 

A beloved kindergarten teacher in the Attleboro public school system for 34 years, Pat took great meaning and purpose from shaping her students’ first experiences with school. She loved being a teacher and cared deeply about bringing out the best in each of her students. 

For years after retiring, Pat was stopped around town by former students wanting to share a memory of “Mrs. Braddock’s class”. She also made lifelong friendships with her fellow teachers and hosted many summer pool parties at her home, where she worked on a beautiful perennial garden.

In her retirement, she treasured spending time playing with her two young grandsons, whom she adored, and getting together with her many friends, often going on local trips or out dancing.  She also traveled in the U.S. and internationally, always curious and interested in learning about new places and people. Pat was a kind and outgoing person who made friends wherever she went.

A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her daughter, Amy Braddock, son-in-law Scott Friedman, and grandsons Ben and Alex of Wellesley, MA; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Joe Forte of East Providence, RI; and former husband Doug Braddock of Rehoboth, MA.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Friday, April 19th, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 20th at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 984 Taunton Ave, Seekonk, MA. Internment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence, RI.
