Antonio Brum Obituary

East Providence - Antonio D. Brum, known affectionately as Tony to his friends and family, passed away on Monday March 25, 2024, at the age of 81surrounded by his family. Born on October 25, 1942, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Tony was a man whose warmth and generosity touched many throughout his life. He departed this world in East Providence, the place he had called home for over six decades after arriving from Portugal.

Tony was the beloved husband of Donaria (Santos) Brum, his best friend and partner for more than fifty years. He was a devoted son of the late Antonio and Antonia (Teotonio) Brum. As a father, Tony was a guiding light to his children, John Brum and his wife Melissa of Barrington, Anthony Brum of East Providence, Melissa Hamel of Brentwood, N.H., and Darlene Gidley of Hampton, N.H. He was a cherished brother to Joseph Brum of East Providence, Theodore Brum of Palm Coast, Florida, and he was predeceased by his brother Manuel Brum. His legacy continues through his granddaughter, Katie Brum, and he will also be fondly remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews who experienced his kindness and good humor.

He was a proud  U.S. Army veteran , serving in Germany during the Vietnam War.

Tony's career as a machinist spanned over 30 years, showcasing his dedication and skill at Haskell Incorporated and B.A.I. His work was not just a job but a craft he honed with precision and pride. He was also a committed member of the Holy Rosary Band Society, where he shared his love for music and community.

His interests painted the picture of a man who cherished the simple pleasures in life. Tony was happiest when he was listening to music, with a particular fondness for the melodies that reminded him of his Azorean roots. An avid fisherman, he found peace on the water, whether fishing or boating. His passion for soccer was evident in his support for Sporting F.C., and he found joy in the thrill of the game.

Tony's love for antiquing was more than a hobby; it was a quest for history and beauty in everyday items. He spent countless hours searching for that perfect piece that spoke to him, a reflection of his appreciation for craftsmanship and nostalgia.

Described as friendly, generous, and handy, Tony was the kind of neighbor everyone wished for and the kind of friend everyone cherished. He was always there to lend a helping hand, whether it was fixing a broken appliance or offering a listening ear. His generosity extended beyond his immediate circle, touching the lives of many in his community.

Tony's absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to live on in the memories he created with his family and friends. His laughter, his wisdom, and his unwavering support are the gifts he has left behind, a testament to a life well-lived.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Antonio D. Brum will be missed, not just for what he did, but for who he was—a kind-hearted man who made the world a better place simply by being in it. His story is one of love, commitment, and the joy of everyday adventures. As we say goodbye to Tony, we celebrate the indelible mark he has left on our hearts.
